A MOMENT WITH: Rosemarie Farthing from Ceremonies by Rosemarie
How did you become a celebrant?
I wanted a change of pace, so I completed the Certificate IV in Celebrancy and then registered with the Attorney General’s office to practice.
Tell us a bit about yourself, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I love reading murder mysteries, but while driving I listen to audiobooks on self-improvement. I also foster cats and kittens, and care for rescued wildlife.
What is your favourite part about your work?
I love meeting the prospective couple for the first time!
What do you do to prepare for each wedding?
I spend a great deal of time working on the script and vows. I incorporate loads of feedback from the couple until the ceremony is exactly the way they want it.
Are there any ceremonies you have been a part of that been particularly special to you? Can you tell us about it?
I’m still waiting for a steampunk wedding ceremony!
What are you excited about for your business this year, and for the future?
I’m looking forward to performing more weddings, but also be part of other types of ceremonies.
What part of a wedding do you find to be the most fun?
The actual wedding ceremony is the most fun because it’s such a happy atmosphere and you can’t help but smile.
What is your advice for couples getting married?
Above all else, practice empathy and patience with each other, especially in times of stress or crisis.
What are you excited about for the expo?
Meeting a lot of couples and hopefully become a part of their wedding day.
