As you head to the chapel to get married, there’s only one true way to start your forever on the right foot. While often underestimated, transport is the unsung hero of your special day – seamlessly connecting the key moments, from the ceremony to the reception. Whether it’s travelling with family or ensuring guests arrive in comfort, wedding transport brings everyone together and sets the tone for the celebration ahead. To explore how to plan flawless pick-ups and drop-offs, Western Australia Wedding & Bride’s Josephine Day speaks with Pete Razi, director and luxury chauffeur at Perth Airport Chauffeur, for expert insights.
Choosing your wedding transport is no easy feat. It takes time, consideration, and most of all, emotion. Whether you’re looking for a classic, timeless beauty or a sleek, modern ride, your transport not only needs to match the aesthetic of your day, but more importantly, offers a relaxed and comfortable journey for all. That’s why there’s no greater decision than to go with a personal chauffeur – a lending hand that takes care of all the minor details and ensures that you and your party travel from A to B with ease.
Razi has been within the transport business for decades, and the feeling of being a part of someone’s memorable day brings goosebumps that never grow old. “It’s a privilege to contribute to the couple’s experience by ensuring everything runs smoothly on time and with a touch of elegance,” he describes. “I take pride in creating a calm and comfortable atmosphere, especially during what can be a very emotional day.”
Get This Party Started
As the gears for your special day gain momentum, it is best to start your journey early to avoid disappointment – but, where do you begin?
It is a very simple and transparent process that starts with a conversation, allowing the driver to gain an in-depth understanding of the vision and requirements of your day, alongside any personal requests. This thoughtful collaboration ensures that your ride is personalised to your liking, with every detail covered. “Once an enquiry is received, we discuss the couple’s schedule, venue details and any special requirements to ensure every transfer runs smoothly,” Razi states. “I work closely with the couple to understand their timing, preferred routes and style preferences.”
At Perth Airport Chauffeur, couples are welcome to view, inspect and select a vehicle from its generous fleet to ensure it matches the overall theme and elegance of their wedding. The company’s range of trending, stylish and practical vehicles are perfect for any style of wedding. The elegant and classic sedans including an Audi A8L, Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series (Li) present a refined, polished arrival for the couple. The spacious and modern SUVs are ideal for the bridal party, allowing adequate space for the dress, accessories and decorations while the Mercedes-Benz V-Class and Mercedes Sprinter vans are ideal for pick-ups, offering space, style and optimal comfort.
With an idea in mind of your perfect transport, you may be contemplating when is best to have it secured. Stress-less, Razi has you covered. To beat the traffic, he advises that the ideal time to book multiple vehicles for a wedding is at least one to three months in advance. “Availability can be affected by several factors, including seasonal demand, social events in the city, and the number of vehicles required.”
Planning With Ease
“Striking the right balance between luxury and logistics comes down to careful planning and clear communication,” Razi asserts. Whether it be picking up loved ones from the airport or transporting bridal parties from numerous locations, no job is too big or too small for Razi and his team. However, to ensure a smooth and stress-free journey it is crucial that you are in constant correspondence with your chauffeur – especially when organising large groups.
One of the common mistakes couples always make when organising their transport is underestimating the travel time between locations. Whilst factoring in elements such as traffic and delays, it is also important to communicate clearly with bridal party/family members, so there is no unnecessary confusion. “For large wedding parties with multiple locations, I work closely with the couple to understand their priorities – whether it’s photo opportunities, comfort or precise timing – and then coordinate the fleet accordingly,” he continues.
To avoid the fine line between over-planning and being unprepared, Razi recommends that couples create a clear wedding transport schedule, outlining the different groups, pick-up locations, and venue arrival time. He also advises that it is best to work backwards from the ceremony start time, allowing leeway between photos, traffic and last-minute preparations.
Arriving For ‘I Do’
Like your love story, your wedding transport should feel effortless and special, as though it was made perfectly for you. With careful planning and personal touches, every ride will be a memorable part of the day, letting you sit back, relax and focus on what matters most.
However, it is only natural for unexpected obstacles to arise, and Razi prides himself on always remaining calm, proactive and solution focused, so no challenge interferes with your dream day. It is these qualities that have made him a trusted driver, as he recalls a recent wedding. “There was a situation where one of the vehicles booked for a bridal party became unavailable due to an unexpected mechanical issue on the day. I immediately arranged a replacement vehicle from our fleet, coordinated with the chauffeur to adjust pick-up times, and communicated directly with the bridal party and venue to ensure everyone knew the updated plan.”
As you begin to embark on your transport journey, Razi outlines some key questions to ask your provider, to avoid those common red flags. Questions may include, ‘How many passengers can each vehicle accommodate comfortably?’ ‘Are the drivers experienced with weddings and familiar with the venues?’ and ‘Are there any options for personalised touches, like decorations or music?’ These are tailored to clarify areas of concern including timing, capacity and service quality, and go a long way in creating the perfect day.
