Bridal Fashion

Jermaine Clark Melbourne celebrant multi-denominational caring experienced

What made you decide to get into bridal fashion?

I designed custom-made lingerie and swimwear for 15 years before I decided to venture into couture. My passion for creating has been easily expressed in beautiful gowns over the past ten years and working closely with my clients gives me unlimited inspiration and joy!

Tell us a bit about yourself, what do you like to do in your spare time?

I was born in New Zealand but lived in Australia as a young child, before I moved overseas with my mum and two sisters. I returned many years later to study fashion design on the Gold Coast, then headed back overseas before deciding to settle in Perth. I’ve fallen in love with this beautiful city!

What is your favourite part about your work?

My favourite part of my job is the time spent designing with clients and being a part of the joy once the dress is complete. I do have a great knack for interpreting what is in the client’s head, so the end result always gives me a great sense of achievement and satisfaction.

Are there any weddings you have been a part of that have been particularly special to you? Can you tell us about it?

My very first bridal client after I graduated was a local Gold Coast radio presenter, Moyra Major from SeaFM (back then but now at Hot Tomato). We had a great time designing her two-piece, silk and Swarovsk-detailed gown. During her first fitting, she teared up and said she’d never felt so beautiful.

What are you excited about for your business this year, and for the future?

Having only been in Perth a short while, it’s exciting getting to meet other contributors and suppliers in the wedding industry.

How do ensure a bride looks and feels her best in her wedding gown?

As well as being a fashion designer, I have attended several workshops and courses on body shapes and proportions. These have enabled me to guide each bride during the design process. Each client is marketing my brand, so it’s not only critical to create what the bride is after, but also for her to look her absolute best on her wedding day!

What are you most excited about for the expo this year?

I love having a chance to meet the brides-to-be and talking about what would make their wedding dress the perfect one!
