THE FINISHING TOUCH

Rustic, romantic, classic, or whimsical – these are just a few options for your wedding theme. With endless ideas and inspiration available, finding the right pieces to bring your vision to life can feel overwhelming. That’s why more couples are turning to furniture hire, selecting and styling key items that seamlessly tie together their aesthetic while offering comfort and charm. To explore this growing trend, Western Australia Wedding & Bride’s Josephine Day chats with Hannah Greene, creative director at Angel of Events, about how furniture hire is redefining modern wedding styling.

Angel of Events is a bespoke, family operated wedding and event company nestled in the state’s south-west. Specialising in rustic, country-style weddings, the team have a calm and down-to-earth manner, ensuring couples feel supported, respected and listened to throughout their wedding journey.

The company brings all fairytales to life, tailoring its products to suit every ceremony and reception. First Things First

“The most important thing is to focus on what you want, not just what’s trending,” says Greene. In a world heavily influenced by social media, choosing a wedding aesthetic can feel overwhelming – every detail expected to be Instagram-ready. But Greene encourages couples to shift their focus away from online ideals and toward the real experience of the day. “Trends come and go, but your story is timeless,” she adds. “Choose pieces that feel like you – not what social media says you should have.”

From the first meeting, Greene listens closely to each couple’s vision, helping them brainstorm ways to bring it to life through thoughtfully selected furniture and styling. Some couples arrive with a clear plan in mind, while others seek creative guidance. In either case, Greene and her team provide expert suggestions to ensure both beauty and practicality. “Our collection is quite versatile,” she notes, “so it fits a wide range of venues and themes whether it’s a rustic farm or something a little more refined.” Inspiration photos are always welcome, helping her team visualise the couple’s dream. From there, it’s all about curating the right pieces and creating flow, comfort and beauty throughout the space.

From Aisle to Afterparty

Once your wedding style is set, the next step is seamlessly integrating furniture into the space – experimenting with layouts and design possibilities. This is where the guidance of a professional becomes invaluable. “It all starts with understanding the space – whether that’s through a site visit or a good chat and photos from the couple,” says Greene. Rural and outdoor venues are often favourites, but they come with unique challenges like uneven ground, weather exposure and limited access. To help couples visualise the final setup, Greene and her team create mock layouts or sketches. “Flexibility is key,” she explains. “Country weddings can be at the mercy of the weather, we always have a backup plan ready – whether that’s moving furniture undercover, swapping out certain items, or adjusting placement on the day.”

The secret to the perfect wedding layout, she says, lies in comfort and flow. “Not having enough seating or placing furniture in a way that blocks movement or conversation areas are common mistakes we see. That’s why we always guide our couples through layout ideas and ask the right questions to make sure it all works on the day.” Ultimately, it’s about creating a warm, welcoming environment that elevates the entire guest experience. “We always aim to create spaces that feel welcoming and lived in,” Greene adds. Through layered rugs, plush cushions and textured throws, every detail is designed for connection and ease. Whether by the bar, beside the dance floor or under the stars, each lounge setup becomes a meaningful part of the celebration.

Mix and Match

If you and your partner have different styles you’d like to reflect in your wedding, Greene assures that no vision is too ambitious. “A little contrast can go a long way when it’s styled with care,” she says. Greene’s carefully curated furniture collection is designed to be flexible, seamlessly fitting into a variety of settings.

When deciding whether to match furniture with your wedding’s colour palette or use it as a statement feature, Greene offers valuable guidance. “If they want a soft, cohesive look, I usually recommend coordinating furniture with their colour palette using cushions, throws and florals to tie everything together naturally,” she explains. “But if they want a bold moment or something that stands out, furniture can absolutely be a statement piece.” For Greene, it all comes down to balance – knowing when to blend and when to let key elements shine.

Let The Celebrations Begin

So, what can we expect in wedding styling in 2026? According to Greene, it’s all about comfort, personality and thoughtful design. “Couples are leaning into comfort and personality, creating little ‘moments’ throughout their weddings where guests can sit, relax and take it all in,” she explains. Earthy tones, statement pieces and sustainable materials like reclaimed wood are becoming increasingly popular – fitting perfectly with the rustic, relaxed aesthetic many couples love.

Greene advises booking furniture hire as early as possible, especially for peak season weddings. “Six to twelve months out is a good rule of thumb to make sure they get all the pieces they really want,” she says. Additionally, when choosing a style team, Greene suggests looking for people who listen, communicate early and genuinely care. “It’s not just about hiring furniture, it’s about working with people who’ll go the extra mile to make it feel right,” she says. “You want a team that’s flexible, reliable and has experience in working in all sorts of venues, especially if you’re getting married outdoors or somewhere a little tricky,” she concludes.
